However, in the face of adversity, China's power industry has overcome many contradictions and difficulties in the layout structure, institutional mechanisms, and market environment, and achieved rapid development. . In 2009, the country’s electricity demand gradually recovered and its growth rate exceeded that of the same period of last year; power generation installed capacity continued to maintain rapid growth, and the power transmission and transformation capabilities further improved. The nation’s investment in electricity construction reached 755.8 billion yuan, an increase of 19.93% year-on-year. The entire industry has basically achieved recovery growth, and power demand and consumption have stabilized. The country is at the initial stage of a new cycle of economic and power development. This can be seen from the relevant data, in the past 1-2 months, China's electricity consumption increased by 26% year-on-year, the cumulative average utilization of power generation equipment in the country was 728 hours, an increase of 84 hours over the same period the previous year .

It is in such a situation that participating leaders and experts have made optimistic estimates of the development of the power industry in 2010. The "Analysis and Forecast Report on China's Electricity Supply and Demand and Economic Operation Situation" issued by the China Electricity Council has also pointed out: In 2009, the recovery of electricity consumption growth has basically taken shape. At present, there are more positive factors in promoting economic growth than adverse factors. . In a comprehensive judgment, it is expected that the growth of electricity consumption in the country will be higher than in 2009, and the annual electricity consumption will reach about 397 trillion kWh. In 2010, both power supply and grid investment will be around 3,000 billion yuan, which is less than the level in 2009; In 2010, the country’s annual total infrastructure installed capacity reached 85 million kilowatts. By the end of 2010, the country’s total installed power generation capacity was around 950 million kilowatts.

However, in an excellent situation, there are still some potential issues that need attention.

Zheng Baosen, deputy general manager of the State Grid Corporation of China, also pointed out that the development of China's power industry is confronted with eight major problems such as excessive allocation of coal for energy allocation, unbalanced power supply layout, and unreasonable power supply structure. The development of the power industry is still a long way off.
