First and foremost, let's talk about EPS (Emergency Power Supply). EPS serves as an essential backup power source, providing critical support for fire safety equipment, municipal infrastructure, healthcare facilities, industrial operations, and other crucial systems during a main power outage. Unlike traditional standby generators, EPS excels in terms of startup speed, noise reduction, ease of maintenance, power quality, overload capacity, self-protection mechanisms, and environmental friendliness. EPS is typically categorized into three types based on the type of load it supports: lighting type, power type, and mixed lighting-power type. These correspond to lighting-only, motor-driven (such as fire pumps), and hybrid loads.
The inverter plays a pivotal role in the EPS power supply industry. When the main power supply fails, the inverter within the EPS converts the stored DC power from the battery pack into AC power, ensuring uninterrupted operation of connected devices. Hence, the inverter must meet stringent requirements to deliver power quality comparable to that of the mains. The inverter relies solely on DC power supplied by the battery pack, making AC-powered auxiliary systems unsuitable for this application. Consequently, cooling fans and soft contactors should also operate on DC rather than AC.
EPS output voltage quality is another key consideration. The harmonic content, load regulation, and overall stability of the output voltage are critical factors. A well-designed EPS ensures minimal voltage fluctuations even when there are variations in the battery pack or load conditions. For particularly demanding applications, EPS should possess robust startup capabilities. This means that even when the battery pack voltage drops below the inverter’s input undervoltage threshold, the inverter must continue operating normally while maintaining adequate voltage and current outputs without triggering fault alarms.
In the EPS power supply sector, specialized inverters are scarce and often come at a premium. Recognizing this gap, Ziri Electric Technology Co., Ltd., leveraging over a decade of inverter development expertise, has introduced a cost-effective, high-performance EPS-specific inverter (the ZVF9V-E series). Designed to address the unique demands of EPS systems, this inverter significantly enhances overall performance.
Key features of the ZVF9V-E series include:
1. Direct DC power supply capability eliminates the need for additional wiring, allowing the inverter’s auxiliary power supply, cooling fans, and soft contactors to operate independently of external AC power.
2. Available in two voltage ratings—DC 500V and DC 300V—with respective power ranges of 1.5kW to 315kW and 0.75kW to 110kW, catering to diverse application needs.
3. Utilizes high-frequency PWM technology to produce near-sinusoidal voltage waveforms post-filtering, minimizing harmonic distortion. Additionally, the inverter incorporates built-in voltage regulation to automatically stabilize output voltages despite fluctuations in the battery pack voltage due to varying loads or discharge levels.
4. Adjustable undervoltage points ranging from DC 360V to 480V and overvoltage points from DC 660V to 760V, offering flexibility to meet specific customer requirements.
This innovative solution not only reduces costs but also improves reliability and efficiency, making it an ideal choice for modern emergency power systems.
