In terms of design, the Fitbit Ionic features an aluminum alloy case with a curved back, paired with a round, color touchscreen. The screen has a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, making it highly visible even under direct sunlight. The case includes antenna lines similar to those found on the iPhone, enabling GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. It also supports notifications, music control, and offers waterproofing for swimming.
The watch runs on a new software platform called Fitbit OS, which is built on web standards—similar to the Pebble smartwatch launched last year. It comes in three colors: silver, gray, and orange. With these features, the Ionic aims to compete directly with other smartwatches in the market, offering both style and functionality.
