Report says 32% of iPhone users still use 4-inch devices

Tencent Technology News, February 6th — According to a report from data analysis company Mixpanel released on Friday, approximately 32.22% of active iPhone users are still using 4-inch devices. There have been market rumors suggesting that Apple might launch the latest 4-inch model, the "iPhone 5se," at an event scheduled for March 15 this year. Since 2013, Apple has introduced three 4-inch iPhones: the iPhone 5, 5c, and 5s. Some users still prefer smaller screens for their portability and one-handed usability, considering it the ideal size for daily use. According to Mixpanel's data, the iPhone 5s currently makes up less than 20% of active users, while the iPhone 5 accounts for 7.53%, and the iPhone 5c for 5.66%. In a recent financial call, Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned that 60% of older iPhone users have not upgraded to newer models like the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, or 6s Plus. As a result, those looking for a 4-inch device still have to rely on the iPhone 5s, which has been on the market for over two years. However, this model lacks many modern features such as Apple Pay, 3D Touch, and Live Photos. To address this demand, the upcoming iPhone 5se is expected to feature a 4-inch display, Apple’s latest A9 chip, support for Live Photos, and a price tag around $500. This could make it an attractive option for users who want a compact, affordable, and updated iPhone experience. In addition to the hardware upgrades, the iPhone 5se may also bring improved performance and better battery life, making it a strong contender for those who prefer smaller smartphones but still want access to the latest technology. Whether it will succeed in capturing the attention of current iPhone users remains to be seen, but it's definitely a move that could appeal to a specific segment of the market.
