Morgan Stanley analysts have pointed out that while Tesla's EV sales are expected to grow significantly—by ten times from 2017 levels by 2023—the lack of charging infrastructure could become a key obstacle to its long-term success.
To meet the global demand for 500 million electric cars, a combination of public and private investment will be essential. China, as the largest EV market, is expected to contribute about one-third of the total global investment in charging infrastructure by 2040. This underscores the importance of coordinated efforts between governments, private companies, and international organizations to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to support the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable transportation system.
