Codenamed GFX10 AMD New Architecture Navi GPU May Have Been Tapered

[PConline News] AMD has previously announced a graphics card roadmap. The roadmap shows that the Vega 20, which was first introduced in the following year, is based on the 12nm process (renamed the 14nm+ process).

But Vega 20 did not show up and Navi appeared instead.

According to ComputerBase, a Linux driver "new_chip.gfx10.mmSUPER_SECRET.enable [0: 0]" from AMD was found in the replies of the Beyond3D forum. GFX10 represents AMD's tenth graphics card architecture. Since Vega runs on behalf of GFX9, it can be inferred that GFX10 is Navi.

If this entry exists in the driver, the chip is already taped out based on experience. AMD should have received the first batch of Navi GPUs for testing purposes, but it is still unclear whether trials will be conducted using GF or TSMC's 7nm process.

However, the road map shows that Navi will not be launched until the end of the 18th. Before that, we will first look at whether the Vega 20 based on the new 12nm process can squeeze out the potential of the Vega architecture.
