The base model, which offers a range of 480 km, starts at $150,000, while the long-range version with an 800 km range is priced at $180,000. Customers can now place a reservation with a $20,000 deposit. For those interested in the exclusive Founders Series, the price jumps to $200,000, and full payment is required upfront. Tesla plans to produce 1,000 units for the first batch.
According to the latest data from Tesla’s website, the pricing is actually quite competitive when compared to traditional diesel trucks. Entry-level diesel trucks typically cost around $100,000. However, Tesla claims that by comparing fuel costs, electricity, and diesel expenses, owners could save up to $200,000 over the lifetime of the truck before it's scrapped.
Tesla also highlighted the impressive performance of the Semi. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 20 seconds, carry a payload of 36 tons, and maintain speeds of up to 65 mph (105 km/h) under heavy load—outperforming diesel trucks in similar conditions. In terms of safety, the Semi features advanced autopilot assistance and is designed to withstand severe impacts, including glass shattering scenarios.
While Tesla has released base prices, additional features may increase the final cost. However, details about available configurations are still unclear. The company is expected to begin deliveries sometime in 2019, but no official timeline has been confirmed yet.
