SLOC technology provides high-definition network security monitoring solutions

The development trend of millions of high-definition has been recognized by most security companies, especially in the last one or two years, millions of high-definition products have been gradually accepted by more and more users, and there have been many successful application cases. With continuous maturity, I believe that high-definition surveillance will fully enter the application with its powerful advantages.

In recent years, with the development of digital technology, millions of high-definition surveillance systems have become increasingly mature. Many manufacturers can already provide complete front-end, back-end and related platform solutions that can meet the needs of most projects. High-definition is an inevitable trend in the development of the security monitoring industry and an inevitable law in the development of the industry. However, we can see that the development of the network high-definition era still faces several major problems:

1. In the CCTV era, existing engineering companies have become accustomed to coaxial cable construction, and the construction of large-scale network projects still faces many difficulties.

2. The IP camera is restricted by the transmission of 150 meters, and the longer distance requires the introduction of optical fiber.

3. The monitoring project has very high requirements for real-time preview, and the general WAN IP camera preview video delay is generally between 1 and 4 seconds (mainly caused by video encoding cache, video decoding cache, and network transmission delay).

At the same time, there are millions of coaxial cable safety monitoring projects in the world, and the investment is huge. For the analog to digital monitoring system, the original pipeline has been laid out, and the secondary wiring is very difficult to form a network, and these cables are still far away. The service life is not reached. How can these large amounts of coaxial lines be used again to shorten the construction period of the project, reduce construction costs and personnel costs? How to quickly upgrade and upgrade to a high-definition monitoring system based on analog equipment in a monitoring system without rewiring? It seems that the difficulty of transformation is far greater than the hardware conditions of the equipment. So, is there a new solution that can combine the advantages of analog coaxial and IP technology to extend the transmission distance and solve the network delay?

It is precisely because they can solve these problems that Intersil launched the SLOC (security link over coax) coaxial cable composite video transmission solution in 2011, which has become the focus of the industry. SLOC is a transmission solution using the latest MODEM PHY technology, which can simultaneously transmit high-definition IP streams and standard-definition analog real-time video based on coaxial cables. The SLOC transmission solution can completely solve the three major problems facing IP surveillance systems:

1. Support 1080P high-definition IP code stream transmission based on the existing coaxial cable.

2. Support the local transmission distance of IP code stream to 300 meters.

3. Simultaneously transmit real-time analog video for real-time preview or high-speed dome control, completely solve the problem of IP transmission delay.

Simply put, SLOC = analog video + IP stream = true converged transmission solution, which transmits on the same coaxial cable of considerable length (300 meters) under the premise of ensuring signal quality. The SLOC system consists of 2 chips , One is placed after the network camera, its role is to modulate the compressed IP code stream output by the network camera and the CVBS signal output by the network camera to make it suitable for coaxial transmission, and at the coaxial receiver, in addition An IC will demodulate the signal and restore it to an IP code stream and a CVBS signal. The compressed IP stream is directly stored, and the CVBS signal is connected to a monitor for preview. In this way, it not only solves the problem of long-distance transmission of high-definition signals, but also overcomes the phenomenon that the network camera preview delay is too high.

Currently, 40 million analog cameras are shipped worldwide each year. According to statistics, there are still 400 million analog cameras in operation worldwide. The emergence of SLOC technology will quickly realize the seamless transition of the video surveillance system from analog CCTV to network IP surveillance, greatly shorten the construction cycle and construction cost, and accelerate the realization of network high-definition. The comparison between Figure 2 and Figure 3 shows that when the traditional analog monitoring project is upgraded to high-definition, only the front-end and back-end equipment need to be replaced, and no line transformation is required.
