Mobile computing SoC IP component design

1 Introduction

Mobile operation or mobile computing (mobile compuTIng) was originally a research direction in the field of communication. With the development, application and integration of digital wireless communication technology and embedded computing technology, mobile operation has gradually become a very promising one in embedded systems. Field [1]. SoC (System on a Chip) is a research and development hotspot of embedded systems [2], which uses modern computers and microelectronics high technology to achieve single-chip system integration, reducing the size, improving operating efficiency, and enhancing Reliability, reduced power consumption, and reduced cost are called ideal structures for embedded system applications. The combination of mobile operation and SoC has opened up a new world of embedded system research and application. In order to explain the application of mobile operating SoC, here is an example, as shown in Figure 1.

In Fig. 1, the mobile operation SoC is set on the car, and it establishes communication contact with the control center and the home through the GSM communication network. Owners can control various household appliances in the home through mobile operation SoCs on the car, such as starting rice cookers and microwave ovens on the way home; they can also send consultation and data extraction information to the control center. At the same time, the vehicle owner can check the security system and fire protection system installed in the home through mobile operation SoC, find problems in time, and ask the control center for help. On the other hand, the security issues of the home can also be transmitted to the control center and the car owner through GSM, so that timely measures can be taken.

When the car owner is at home, the mobile operation SoC on the car is connected to the anti-theft system on the car. When the car is stolen, the car owner and the control center are alerted in time.

It can be seen that in today's increasingly developed mobile communications, mobile operation SoC will become one of the new hotspots in embedded system application research, with broad development space.

2 Structure of mobile operation SoC

As a branch of SoC in mobile communication control, mobile operation SoC and general SoC are similar in design. As the core of a system, to complete the operation, operation or control function of the SoC, there must be corresponding components. Most components, especially external components, must have a corresponding controller in the SoC. Therefore, in order to achieve application object operation, SoC must design a considerable number of component controllers. The design of the component controller is, to the SoC, the design of some IP (Intellectual Property) components. Because the programmable device PLD is easy to learn and easy to modify, it is often used as a hardware support for designing IP components.

The basic structure of the mobile operating SoC is shown in Figure 2. In the mobile operating SoC, the core is the embedded microprocessor MPU. In fact, most MPUs are provided by MPU or PLD design and development companies. For example, MCS51 series NIOS and 32-bit ARM series MPU cores are provided to users by Altera and Arm respectively [3].
