Collimated lens for efficient LED lighting

Researchers at the Information Photonics Laboratory of the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have recently designed lenses for efficient LED collimation illumination. Recently, John Wallace, the editor-in-chief of the international authoritative magazine "Laser World", made a special report on this new design method in the LED OPTICS column.

As the fourth-generation lighting source, LED is the key to achieving efficient light output and collimated lighting. John Wallace believes that the researchers used a simple and fast method to design two non-imaging LED collimating lenses, which is completely different from the complex iterative software design methods commonly used in existing LED optical designs. The collimating lens is very effective. It can focus 80% of the light emitted by the LED into a cylinder with a radius of 5 meters and pass out of the road surface 200 meters away from the light source.
