# The original innovator # just received the new Amazon Kindle Oasis e-book reader

On October 26th, the new Amazon Kindle Oasis e-reader was finally delivered. The product page had been marked as available on October 31st. Just before 3:00 AM on the last day of October, I received my new Oasis. It was a bit of a relief, especially after the initial issues with my first iPhone X order (which had payment problems, leading to a delayed delivery that ended up arriving in early December, even though I couldn’t get it until November). For two days, I actually considered canceling the order, but eventually decided to go through with it. I bought this version because I already own a KPW3, and while it’s convenient for reading, the Oasis feels like a significant upgrade. I was really impressed by the first-generation Oasis, so when Amazon released an updated version with waterproof features, I just had to try it out. The package arrived via EMS, and the delivery was surprisingly fast. Today, I saw an EMS truck passing by, which made me think about how efficient their service is. Usually, EMS uses three-wheeled electric vehicles, but for this delivery, they used a two-wheeled tram. The difference in service levels between different businesses is quite noticeable. However, Amazon's trust in EMS is evident, and the packaging was surprisingly simple—just a plain kraft paper envelope with no cushioning. It felt a bit underwhelming at first. Inside, the pull-pull cable was a bit stiff, but once opened, the compact design of the Oasis was impressive. Compared to a credit card, it's small and easy to carry. Removing the plastic wrapping revealed the device itself, and the quality still looked very premium. There was a manual and a data cable included, but notably, the charging holster from the original model was missing. For a device with low power consumption like the Kindle, the holster wasn't really necessary, so I found it a smart move by Amazon. I chose the silver-gray version, and I really like the color. I was a bit worried about the band not being practical, but I quickly realized that it's easy to find a suitable bag or case. I usually carry it in a shoulder bag or backpack, and it fits perfectly without any issues. The user experience is definitely better than the KPW3. The page-turning is faster and more comfortable, and I don’t feel tired after long reading sessions. However, I did feel a little anxious when taking it out of the house, as I’m used to carrying the KPW3 without any extra cases. The home screen looks great, and although I haven’t tested the waterproof feature yet, I trust Amazon’s claims. I plan to do a proper test soon. In summary, the advantages of the new Kindle Oasis are its lightweight, slim design, smooth performance, and the high-quality build. The only drawbacks are the price, which is a bit steep for a reader, and some minor imperfections. There's a small slit on the black casing, measuring about 0.6 cm in length and 0.1 cm in width, which seems like a space left for a screwdriver. Also, the photos uploaded to the product page are compressed and might not show clearly. Overall, while it's not exactly what I expected, I'm satisfied with the purchase and am looking forward to using it more regularly.
