Texas Instruments Analog Innovation Enhances Car Infotainment and Charging Experience

Beijing, August 14, 2014

Texas Instruments (TI) today announced seven new products, including high-performance power management, ultra-fast USB and logic, to enhance car infotainment and user driving experience. TI has not only introduced a new power management integrated circuit (PMIC) to improve the performance of infotainment systems, but also introduced the industry's first USB 3.0 devices and a car free-positioning Qi wireless power transmitter that allows users to A more enjoyable and convenient connection experience.

Support for a new generation of infotainment systems

The TI TPS659039-Q1 PMIC not only supports the DRA74x "Jacinto 6" processor, but also minimizes system-level power consumption in next-generation infotainment system designs. Compared with competing devices, the PMIC can improve thermal management through adaptive voltage scaling, reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) through internal and external synchronization, and achieve high design flexibility through power sequencing, saving board space and shortening development. Time, but also reduce the need for other microcontrollers.

The TPS659039-Q1 powers up in just 15 milliseconds, which gives users lightning-fast access to driver information, camera windows, navigation systems, and heads-up displays. In addition, designers can use the PMIC to power dual-core and quad-core ARM® Cortex-15 processors for automotive and industrial applications.

In complex infotainment systems, the latest SN74AUP1T34-Q1 and TXS0102-Q1 voltage level shifters require only incompatible CMOS logic communication between processors with different operating voltages and legacy peripherals to resolve voltages. Match the problem.

Convenient USB connection and wireless charging

TI's new TUSB8041-Q1 and TUSB8020B-Q1 USB hub controllers and TUS9261-Q1 USB to SATA bridges are the first to implement USB 3.0 connectivity in up to four USB ports in automotive applications. TUSB devices support USB 3.0 communication with 5Gbps data traffic to support a wide range of multimedia applications, including mobile phones or external hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid state disk drives (SDDs) to support portable gaming and navigation systems. The downstream ports of the two hub controllers support USB battery charging 1.2 standard, charging downstream port (CDP), handshake, and dedicated charging port (DCP) mode when the upstream port is not connected. The USB 3.0 hub controller supports USB charging and has higher receiver sensitivity than competing devices, reducing board space and simplifying system design.

The new bq500414Q is the industry's first wireless power transmitter to meet automotive quality requirements and Qi 1.1 standards, supporting free positioning, foreign object detection and system level EMI enhancement. The transmitter IC enables wireless charging in a car console (designed with an A6 coil) for a simpler, easy charging experience for occupants.
