SCE President Hideo Yoshida describes PSV's wireless linkage game concept

At the Tokyo Game Show a few weeks ago, Sony demonstrated to the public its PSV wireless remote gaming features, demonstrating that Killzone 3 on the PS3 can be played directly on the PSV console via wireless transmission. Mr. Yoshida Hideki, president of Sony Global Studios, disclosed more details on this feature in his latest issue of Famitsu and Sony’s strategic arrangements for this feature.

In fact, what TGS displayed was the linkage of PS3 and PSVita through wired conduction. Due to the large number of people in the stadium causing wireless interference, it is necessary to do so. Yoshida promised to players that in the future release version, players will play linked games wirelessly and will reach the transmission speed displayed on TGS.

PS3 games need to re-adjust the host's memory and CPU usage if they want to play on PSVita via wireless linkage. Of course, Sony said it has completed the development kit and will send developers a beta version of the development kit to test upcoming and some classic old works.

However, Yoshida did not clearly indicate when wireless linkage will support PS3 games. Vita players will be able to experience some of the features of wireless linkage at the time of sale. Sony has completed the optimization of "Torne" (a hotspot peripheral on the PS3 that will add digital video recording capabilities to the PS3). In the November update, this peripheral will support PSVita's wireless linkage.

In addition to pure wireless support, PSVita can also be used as a PS3 controller. The host screen can also be used as a small screen. Yoshida said that Sony will strongly support PS3 game developers to make good use of PSVita's touch screen.
