In the past six months alone, Logitech has introduced new mechanical keyboards, new headphones, new mouse products and HD web cameras for webcasts. However, these products are mainly for gamers. In the broader consumer market, Logitech has been developing products that are not only for PCs, but for multiple devices.

Meet Logitech K780

Like many other similar products on the market, the Logitech K780 multi-device (hereafter referred to as “K780”) can connect to any number of Bluetooth devices, but its goal is to make the process of working on multiple devices as seamless and smooth as possible.

This $80 keyboard fits Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and Chrome OS devices. Logitech launched the Logitech K780 in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) market in June.

The K780 is an upgraded product of Logitech's K380 keyboard launched last year, but there are many differences between the two products. First of all, the K780 has a bracket for placing tablets and mobile phones. Logitech's philosophy is that when working on a PC, if you need to quickly enter a message on a mobile device, users do not have to “finger” to complete this task with their fingers on the phone or tablet.

VentureBeat said that in addition to the brackets, the K780 is a full-featured desktop keyboard compared to the K380, which is a lightweight, portable keyboard that is easy to carry around. The numeric keypad on the right side of the K780 implies that it is primarily a desktop keyboard and supporting multiple devices is just an added benefit.

The mobile device bay is certainly good, but in-depth understanding of the inner workings of the K780 is really interesting. Of course, any Bluetooth keyboard can support multiple devices, but switching between multiple devices is undoubtedly a painful process. This is the advantage of the K780. The user can press one of the 3 buttons to switch the device.

In the upper left corner of the keyboard, behind the ESC key, the user sees three large white buttons labeled 1, 2 and 3 (they can also be used as F1, F2, and F3 buttons). To connect a device to one of the buttons, the user needs to hold down the button for 3 seconds until the button starts flashing and the device is connected to the keyboard via Bluetooth.

In the configuration of VentureBeat writer Paul Sawers, button 1 is connected to the notebook, button 2 is connected to the iPad, and button 3 is connected to the iPhone. To Sols's regret, his Android phone does not support Bluetooth LE. It cannot be linked to the K780. However, most flagship Android phones (and iPhones) support Bluetooth LE, so this will not be a problem for most potential buyers.
