US White House Robot Opens "Presidential Line" at Messenger

Today, the letter to the White House ushered in a digital upgrade. Now, in addition to sending hand-written letters and sending e-mails, citizens can also send information on Facebook to President Obama through the newly released White House Information Robot.

The steps to send information are actually very simple. First, you need to click on the "Message" button on the White House homepage and then click "Get Started" in the dialog window. The robot will send you cordial greetings, and then tell you an interesting fact - the president will read ten messages each night!

Of course, this does not mean that he really reads ten Facebook messages. White House chief digital officer Jason Goldman said the move aims to use new technologies to create opportunities for people to participate in the government and keep the president in touch with the American public. Therefore, this also includes mailed letters.

Goldman also mentioned that starting from President Jefferson, the White House had the habit of reading public letters. With the development of science and technology, the White House and the public have become more and more channels of communication. For example, in the 1980s, the White House opened a telephone consultation service; by 1994, citizens could submit information online through the White House home page.

Well, let's go back to the steps to send information. After greetings, the robot will let you click the "Let's go" button and ask what you want to say to President Obama. Then you can start writing what you want to say to Obama in Messenger, just like writing to a friend. After you send the information, the robot will ask if your information is complete and you need to respond “yes” or “no” to this. When you click "Yes," it even makes you check again for spelling mistakes. It's very intimate.

To reduce spam and other invalid information, the robot will ask for your contact information, including the mailing address, email address, and telephone number in the United States before sending the message. Collect personal information in order to deter people who want to use the new system to send threat information.

“Our goal is to have more contact with citizens - this is why the President opened a Twitter account and the First Lady opened a Snapchat account.” Goldman said, “We use existing technology to allow citizens to communicate with the government in a new way. And interaction."

He added: "The White House is the first government organization to use the Messenger robot to communicate with the public daily."

While other Facebook Messenger robots are trying to improve the user experience, the White House has solved the problem of effective communication and exchange between politicians and citizens.
