Tesla has been promoting its solar roofing products for some time, and this product is now nearing final release.
Tesla sent an invitation letter on Tuesday morning. The conference will be held at 19:00 U.S. Pacific Time (10:00 on Saturday, Beijing time) at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. The Tesla website will broadcast live.
Although SolarCity talked about solar roofs as early as the second quarter earnings conference call, SolarCity was not explicitly mentioned in the invitation, just showing pictures of the roof.

Musk said that the solar roof will be integrated with the new Tesla household energy storage battery Powerwall 2.0, as well as Tesla's charger.
Tesla had previously proposed to buy SolarCity for $2.6 billion, but the deal is still in progress. The vote on the deal will be held on November 17.
The acquisition plan has been criticized. In 2017, Tesla faced many problems, such as the need to increase the production of Model 3, and SolarCity may bring extra $3 billion in liabilities to Tesla.
Musk holds approximately 20% of SolarCity and serves as chairman of the company. Musk is also a cousin of SolarCity CEO Lyndon Rive.
Tesla recently announced that if Tesla's acquisition of SolarCity is completed, it will work with Panasonic's plant in Buffalo, New York to produce solar cells. This factory originally belonged to SolarCity.
It is reported that the initial production of this plant will focus on solar roof products.
