NVIDIA: Carefully polished GPU

NVIDIA recently issued a warning to the channel reminding them to purchase only GPU chips from authorized partners and avoid counterfeiting products such as GPU chips.

Fiona Faulkner, GeForce GPU Sales Director at NVIDIA EMEAI (Europe/Middle East/Africa and India), said: "If the reseller doesn't purchase (GeForce GPU) from an authorized partner, he may face the risk of selling inferior products to customers. That will only lead to a higher rate of repairs and will also undermine the cooperation with customers."

The grey market has always been a headache for dealers. It has caused a great uproar after polishing the CPU processor. It seems that NVIDIA is also suffering from it (It is said that many GeForce 9600 GTs sold at a domestic mall are fake cards). The partners have to be warned about the relationship with those non-authorized suppliers, not to be tempted by those ultra-low quotations. Although NVIDIA did not explicitly say, according to this trend, it is estimated that a large number of polished GPUs have quietly flown into the market.

Fiona Faulkner added that if resellers purchase polished counterfeit chips and “pretend to sell high-end products,” the products that customers ultimately get are naturally beyond the scope of the game.

NVIDIA recommends that resellers first check the online list of authorized partners to avoid potential risks.
