The INTEL 8279 is a programmable keyboard/display interface chip that includes both keyboard input and display output. When the keyboard is input, it provides automatic scanning. It can be connected to a matrix of buttons or sensors to receive input information. It can automatically eliminate switching jitter and provide protection for multiple buttons simultaneously pressing. When the output is displayed, it has a 16×8-bit display RAM whose contents are automatically scanned and displayed by an 8- or 16-bit LED digital tube.
