The touch market is increasing in size

When the cost is reduced to a certain extent, the touch market will have more room for growth. Touch screen shipments are expected to increase by 15% in 2014.

Despite the 1% decline in the growth rate of touch screen output for the first time in four years, it still cannot hide the enthusiasm of manufacturers for the touch market. According to DisplaySearch statistics, the total touch industry shipments in 2013 were nearly $31.4 billion, an increase of nearly 30% year-on-year. Manufacturers actively develop ITO replacement technology

Manufacturers are actively developing better ITO replacement technologies, among which graphene, Metal Mesh and nano silver technology have become the focus of research and development.

In mobile phone touch screens, ITO is an indispensable material, but ITO also has problems such as high cost and difficulty in recycling. As technology continues to advance, touch manufacturers are looking for new alternative technologies. In the interview, the reporter learned that the current mainstream ITO replacement material technology includes Metal Mesh, nano silver, graphene, and organic conductive materials. Among them, Metal Mesh and nano silver technology are more feasible in mass production. Touch manufacturers' technology research direction, and graphene technology has good characteristics, many manufacturers are also actively developing technology.

Yang Shunlin, director of Shenzhen Yushun Electronic Technology, said that ITO has been developed for many years and has unique advantages. Among the alternative materials of ITO, nano silver has advantages in medium and large size, and the price is about 30% lower than that of ITO film; graphene application is better in small and medium size fields, and graphene film can be used to make foldable display touch. Control devices; Metal Mesh can be used in large-size FILM products with the advantage of being thin and light.

Peng Peng, vice president of Changzhou 2D Carbon Technology Co., Ltd., said in an interview with China Electronics News that the profit of ITO conductive film has been declining. Compared with ITO, graphene has more conductivity and light transmittance. Advantages, and flexible touch has a great advantage. However, the use of graphene materials for large-size touch screens has two limitations. First, the problem of production equipment. Graphene is not as mature as ITO equipment, and the efficiency of large-scale production is relatively low. Second, the conductivity of graphene is also Greater room for improvement.

At the exhibition, Changzhou 2D Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. exhibited a smartphone using graphene technology. According to Peng Peng, the graphene mobile phone has received orders from some small factories, but there are still no large-volume shipments. Although graphene is a new technology, although ZTE and Huawei have been paying attention to it, it is still cautious in terms of adoption. It takes a certain time for large manufacturers to accept graphene technology.

The reporter noticed that there are more and more touch screen products using Metal Mesh technology. Among them, Yeecheng Group GIS displayed the 84-inch Metal Mesh touch screen to seize the market that originally belonged to the infrared touch screen.

3M China Co., Ltd. National Senior Sales Manager Yu Ling said in an interview with China Electronics News that the biggest advantage of Metal Mesh technology is that it has a large size, especially the large-screen touch screen of 55 inches or more. The value is smaller than ITO.

Wearable display applications are gradually becoming directions

The application of touch technology to the wearable field has gradually become the consensus of manufacturers, which makes the flexible touch display usher in new development opportunities.

As wearable devices have gradually become a hot spot in the industry, the related supporting industries have also ushered in huge business opportunities. According to data provided by IHS, the sales of wearable displays will increase by more than 90% from 2014 to 2016. With the rapid increase in the adoption rate of Flexible and Stretchable in 2020, its annual sales growth rate will reach 52.9%, and the market size will also grow to 22.7 billion US dollars.

Although the wearable display has just developed, the package is not perfect, but as a touch transparent conductive material, graphene can be flexible display, which also brings a signal to the industry, touch technology is ready.

At the exhibition, Yecheng Group GIS demonstrated the application technology and products of water touch and 3D curved surface fitting. Wang Jianer told the China Electronics News that the water touch technology is made by using a thin film method, which can be waterproofed by improving the process touch module. The underwater touch module is planned to be applied to wearable products in the future. The technology is not a problem, but how to impress consumers, how to achieve more fine and more sensitive touch is a problem that has been explored by the GIS.
