Skyworth Releases New OLED55 and 65-inch Organic TV S9

On December 21st, Skyworth held the OLED Future Summit Forum in Shenzhen today, announcing that the 2016 OLED product sales target is 200,000 units, and that there was no future in the forum. Skyworth Yang Xiaojun said that laser television is just an evolutionary projection technology. There is no essential difference with DLP technology 11 years ago. It will not become the next generation of display technology. At the same time, the latest OLED organic TV product, the S9, is shown. It is available in two sizes, 55 and 65 inches. It is the first OLED product to use DolbyVision (a high standard HDR technology advocated by Dolby). 800nit, with 33.17 million partitions.

OLED is a new generation of display technology. Compared with LCD, it has better definition and contrast. At the same time, because it is self-luminous, it performs well in the black field and also supports full-color display.

According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) of the United States, HDR is a new technology that enhances the viewing experience by highlighting details such as dark, bright color spectrum, and shadows in a wider range.

However, with the popularization of HDR image quality enhancement technology, new requirements have been put forward for display technology. Its biggest technical requirement is brightness range and partitioning technology. With the development and maturity of technology, OLED can provide perfect hardware support for HDR display. The brightness is mainly solved by adding white pixels to LG Display's WRGB technology.

The S9 demonstrated this time is Skyworth's first mass-produced OLED HDR TV, adopts LG Display's WRGB 4K OLED panel, has a brightness of up to 900nit, and 33.17 million divisions, which can make the scene appear closer to the real world. At the same time, the chip also has a 12-bit decoding capability, which is a leading level in the current industry. Equipped with the Coocaa 5.0 operating system and intensified cooperation with Tencent on content, it will first display Tencent Sports' exciting game resources on TV.

In addition, Skyworth also demonstrated various forms of OLED and HDR products and their applications in various fields. Due to the flexible nature of OLEDs, there are more possibilities in physical form. The largest applications include convex and concave TVs.

At present, companies such as Sony and Samsung have already added HDR technology to their TV products, and LG has also launched HDR-equipped OLED TVs, but the specific prices have not been announced. The price of this OLED HDR TV released by Skyworth has not been announced yet.
