Last week, the Toshiba Store hosted an event called “Tao Xiang Hong Gu†as part of the Hangzhou Station Line series. The event took place on Saturday, September 23rd, and it was the first time the name had been used without any conflicts. It's likely that the offline nature of the activity was due to a limited number of participants. The next day, I received a QQ message asking if I had time to join the Toshiba Hangzhou Station event and was introduced to several exciting benefits.
As a photography-themed exchange, photographing a model was definitely a key part of the event. In the afternoon, there were sessions where photographers shared their experiences and some interactive games were held along the way. After the event, attendees had the chance to take photos with the models, and everyone was given a gift — the Toshiba CANVIO COMMECT II 1TB hard drive. If you were lucky, you could also win additional prizes at the event.
There were so many benefits, and it was great to have such free perks as a senior customer. If I had to point out one downside, it would be the location. The venue was quite far from my home, over 30 kilometers away. The organizers rented the Kaiyuan Residence in Xiaoshan Heshang Town, which is an elegant antique boutique hotel. The old houses complemented each other beautifully, making it a perfect spot for photography.
When the staff arrived, the host explained the schedule for the day. Later came the highlight — a product demonstration. As a photography-themed event, Toshiba naturally showcased its own products, like the FlashAIR W-03 wireless SDHC memory card. My camera has built-in Wi-Fi, so I didn’t need to bring anything extra.
If you're a photography beginner, this event was a great opportunity. The theme was tea, and there was a live tea ceremony. The hostess was very dedicated to sharing the culture of tea. (Dreams are important, but let's not get too carried away.)
After the tea performance, people were free to take photos. The first round of gifts was handed out, and four beautiful young ladies appeared on stage. As a senior otaku, I couldn’t find the courage to direct them on how to pose. Most of the photos were taken by the experienced photographers, and only a few shots were left for me to share.
The young lady’s smile was incredibly sweet. She must be just as handsome as she looks. The indoor lighting wasn't ideal, and it was lightly raining outside. However, the venue transitioned from indoors to outdoors, giving soft, rainy-day light and a much richer background than the interior.
I used the Toshiba hard drive and wide-angle lens, but I didn’t dare to step into the spotlight. I mostly captured shots of cups or used my 55mm f/1.8 lens.
Some of the long-legged girls were amazing. One of them even got a shot with the Toshiba hard drive in hand. The old-timer should pay attention — don’t look too closely.
One leg looked like it was two meters long. The atmosphere was really artistic — a cheongsam in an old house, raindrops in the distance, and a little bit of poetic charm. Unfortunately, the background had a couple of people holding phones, which slightly ruined the scene.
At 11 o'clock, the final appearance happened. The big sister made her grand entrance, just like in TV shows. The experienced photographers shared their tips, while the new ones warmed up on the sidelines.
The three elements of portrait photography — people, the United States, the United States, the United States — were all present. The beauty of the subject and the right setting made for stunning shots. Old iron, help me check if the focus is on the large SD card above?
A good photo was stolen by a handsome guy behind me. Here’s a front-facing HD shot of the Miss Sister. The biggest incident of the day was the photo competition. After the morning session, participants could submit their best work for a chance to win. The top three prizes included a Toshiba CF card. My bald friend won third place.
As a rookie, I managed to win second prize with the photo below, which gives me six months of capital. The morning activities were simple — just posing with the four lovely ladies. There were two more girls, but they weren’t as attractive, so I didn’t include them.
The afternoon was focused on Toshiba’s brand presentation, product displays, and Q&A sessions. I couldn’t grab a cup, and I even answered a question incorrectly, but I still got a prize. (I participated in the interactive activities and took a few photos. The following images are from the official microblog of the Toshiba store. If you have any issues, please contact us for deletion.)
A senior Toshiba user shared his story about storage, especially when he lost a big sister’s data due to a broken mobile hard drive. His emotional story moved the audience, and many cried. The main theme of the talk was the importance of storage devices.
A local photographer shared some valuable photography tips. The exciting moment came when the results of the morning photos were revealed. I was surprised to win second prize. A back view — guess who got the prize.
The prize was the highest-end Toshiba CF card. Unfortunately, it wasn’t useful for me. That doesn’t mean Toshiba’s storage is bad — for an international company, these are the smallest prizes in the series.
Behind the mobile hard disk design contest, the audience showed incredible creativity, with strange and unique shapes. Finally, the group of military kettles won the first place. It was still a mobile hard drive, but some companies didn’t even move with the trend.
Photos of the attendees were taken, and most of the day was spent waiting. The big sisters’ mobile RVs were almost ready to go. The teacher in the center with the hat was the experience-sharing speaker. On the right was a representative from the Japanese Toshiba store. He was the tallest on the court and the most polite person.
By around 4 p.m., the event ended. According to the registration list, everyone received the event gift — the Toshiba CANVIO COMMECT II 1TB hard drive. I got the red one, and there were several other colors available. As mentioned before, 1TB is the smallest in the series.
The size was much smaller than my self-assembled 2.5-inch mobile hard drive. The plastic casing was easy to scratch and lacked the durability of a metal shell. The USB 3.0 interface was standard, and the non-slip mat on the back was frosted.
As a mobile hard drive, speed is always a concern. I didn’t do any deep testing, and since the drive wasn’t new, interested readers can search online for performance details. I’ll keep it simple — no complaints here.
Finally, a wave of appreciation for the Miss Sisters. At the end of the month, your silver card will expire soon. This was my first time missing out, but I hope it encourages the landlord to try again.
