As reported by Xinhua News Agency on the 22nd, the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) released the 37th "Statistical Report on the Development of China's Internet." According to the report, by the end of December 2015, the number of internet users in China had reached 688 million, with an internet penetration rate of 50.3%. This means that nearly half of the population was online, and 90.1% of these users accessed the internet via mobile phones. Mobile internet has reshaped social life, and the "Internet Plus" initiative has continued to support business growth, marking a new stage in the impact of the internet on society. According to the report, in 2015, there were 39.51 million new internet users, representing a 6.1% growth rate, which was an increase from the previous year by 1.1 percentage points. The trend shows that mobile phones are the primary drivers of internet user growth. By the end of 2015, the number of mobile internet users in China reached 620 million, making up 90.1% of all internet users. The surge in internet users and growing market demand have fueled broader applications of the internet. In 2015, one billion netizens used the internet for online education, 152 million accessed online healthcare services, and 96.64 million used the internet to book taxis. The number of online reservations reached 21.65 million. The inclusive, convenient, and shared nature of the internet has entered the public service sector, helping to improve public service levels and promote social harmony and people's well-being. Additionally, the report highlights that more companies are embracing the internet. As of December 2015, 34.0% of companies had full-time internet roles at the grassroots level, while 24.4% had dedicated internet teams. 13.0% of enterprises had internet planning led by their decision-making teams. With the rapid development of China’s online retail market, the proportion of enterprise online sales and purchases exceeded 30%, leading to significant growth in sales. Mobile marketing has become a key channel for corporate promotion, with WeChat marketing being the most popular method, used by 75.3% of companies that adopted mobile marketing strategies.
