Another Future of Virtual Reality: Live TV

As we all know, virtual reality devices will really enter the consumer market in 2016. Whether they are Oculus Rift, Sony PS VR or HTC Vive, they will focus on the most appealing and intuitive part: the game. However, it is clear that virtual reality is not only applicable to games, but also has the same prospects in the most popular areas of entertainment, such as live television.

NextVR is a company dedicated to the development of virtual reality live TV services. In fact, it wants to be Netflix in the field of virtual reality. Currently, NextVR has successfully produced the first live broadcast of virtual reality in the NBA's latest season, and has obtained a $30.5 million investment from Time Warner and Comcast.

NextVR shoots virtual reality video content at the competition site through a dedicated 3D camera, and provides it to Samsung Gear VR users through a live webcast for viewing, gaining repercussions. In the future, the company will also support Oculus Rift, Sony PS VR, HTC Vive, Google Cardboard Glasses, and more, while expanding its content to other programs such as racing cars and concerts.
